World cup 2007: Review of Cricket Teams - Scotland

World cup 2007: Review of Cricket Teams - Scotland

Scotland is a country which shares its democracy with England. Scotland lies in the top of United Kingdom ruled by Queen Elizabeth II. The most inexperienced team which is contesting in World cup will be Scotland, which has played a maximum of 9 matches till December 17 2006.

Due to its inexperience in playing around the exotic grounds of West Indies, Scotland, considered as a baby which is just out of womb. Scotland now starts its cricketing sport with help of two overseas players from South Africa and Pakistan who plays for Scotland team.

Yasir Arafat the Pakistan player who has a moderate number of ODI matches experience in Scotland with 7 ODI's Yasir Arafat is a medium fast bowler who has good experience in first class cricket as like all Asian Cricket nation players have. Yasir is currently playing for Pakistan, Scotland, and Khan Research labs too.

Jonathan Beukes, another player from South Africa helped Scotland to gain their cricketing experience. Beukes has good experience in First class cricket and Twenty20 games but not in ODI like Yasir. Beukes is a Right arm bowler with 34 first class wickets to back him for Scotland. Both Beukes and yasir are not representing Scotland national team. Their Experience is limited to the county matches of Scotland.

Scotland will be lead by Craig Wright a 32 year old (will be 33 during World Cup 2007) is one of the senior most player who has a total of 1591 runs in all forms of cricket. Wright had played 4 One day international games and 15 ICC games and leading the team from August 2006. Wright is also a Right arm Medium fast bowler who has claimed 21 international wickets and 131 first class wickets. Wright has a bowling economy rate of 4.66 which is a good bowling rate for a bowler.

John Blain is the most senior player in the team who has played 9 ODI's which helps Scotland team to gain some victories against other new entrants in the world cup 2007. Blain was a football player previously and opted to cricket in 1997.

Scotland completely relay on the experience of Gavin Hamilton who was an England team player with some good experience in first class cricket and also have scored two half centuries to back him. He has played 8 one day internationals and secured 267 runs. Hamilton is a bowler with 3 wickets in one day internationals. Hamilton has secured 249 first class wickets which will help Scotland to take charge against the new entrants of world cup.

Scotland is been trained by Peter Drinnen former wicket keeper of Queensland, Australia which will back the team to great extend. Scotland is currently touring Bangladesh and had a bad start in their first debut against Bangladesh which is more experienced than other new entrants. Scotland has a lot of matches against various other cricketing nations which are new to world cup. Due to its inexperience in playing major event, this world cup will be the start for Scotland cricket and there is no much hope against this team which can make impressions like what Kenya did in world cup games.

The bowlers are not exposed much to other regular cricket playing nations will be an advantage in posting some pressure in the first few over in the game. Scotland looks world cup as an opportunity to learn more about the game and it helps the development of cricket in Scotland.

We welcome Scotland to the main event to show its skills to all cricket lovers.
