Sunita Williams Dream to fly in outer space got scrubbed by Nasa

The Launch of Discovery shuttle which is carrying the Indian Born NASA Scientist Sunita Williams got scrubbed due to bad weather. The launch of Discovery shuttle was scheduled for 9:35 pm ESTon thursday. There is a little hope that there is an another attempt schedule for 8:47PM EST on saturday.

But Weather man is predicting 30% chances for a good weather on saturday which means the scope of Discovery launch is very thin like a hair. The Discovery shuttle launch scrubble comes in a high price for NASA. It cost around USD 500,000 for each launch and this will be wasted by NASA again if they scrub the launch on saturday.

The biggest issue on Thursday launch is the low clouds and the cold front coming from florida. When contacted a weatherman, he quoted this as a timing factor and it is unfortunate than unusual.

NASA rules prohibit launching in low clouds because engineers need clear skies to observe the shuttle during ascent. In case of emergency, the shuttle commander needs to be able to see clearly enough to guide the shuttle on a difficult back-flip manoeuvre to land safely at Kennedy Space Center.

Orginally planed for a launch of Disciovery shuttle on December 17 but got little response from NASA High officials because they are not interested in putting Discovery over orbit on the New year eve. It is not due to festivity but because of the change of date which happens every year. Are the computers of NASA not capable of doing this without any trouble.

NASA has already gone through two technical problems before wednesday and it is claimed to be resolved. The first was a split second power surge which occured early Tuesday, when power was about to be switched from the shuttle launch platform to Discovery itself. Further test found no problem with the Discovery Shuttle, main boosters, engines and fuel tank.

Sendly they had a concern involving the booster seal glue which connects the segments of Rocket boosters. During test phase manufacturer of glue raised the concerns about its soliditry. It was further evaluvated and conculded that it is OK to fly.

Will discovery shuttle be launched atleast on saturday? It's a Big Questions now.
