PM visits Pawar, wishes speedy recovery

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visited the Escorts hospital and met Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, who is recuperating after undergoing angioplasty.

Singh met his senior cabinet colleague and NCP chief for about 10 minutes and wished him a speedy recovery. Sixty five year old Pawar, who was admitted to the hospital following complaints of exhaustion, underwent angioplasty under the observation of leading cardiologist Naresh Trehan.

Pawar's wife Pratibha, daughter Supriya, Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel and Maharashtra Energy Minister Dilip Walse-Patil were at the hospital during the visit of the Prime Minister. Union Minister for Mines Sis Ram Ola also met Pawar.

Several union ministers and political leaders inquired about Pawar's health over phone. Pawar, who also heads the Indian cricket board, is likely to remain in hospital for at least three days. "He is quite stable," Trehan told.
