Birthday girl: Sania mirza turns 20

Sania Mirza the Birthday girlIt is perhaps apt that the birthday of the youngster who India looks up to falls a day after Children's Day.

Sania Mirza turns 20 today and she would be hoping that the year ahead would be much better than the year just gone by. "It was a learning process and if you are expecting me to move 150-200 spots every time, that is not going to happen every year and every two months," said the Indian tennis sensation. Sania mirza is currently ranked 66th in the world compared to 2005, when she was world number 31.

Coach optimistic

Narendranath, Sania Mirza's coach, says the second year in any sportsperson's career is tougher than the first and that Sania Mirza is no exception. "Honestly, I think Sania Mirza is going to play well next year. It is my belief because towards the end of this year, she started playing very well and the results will come as time goes by," he said.

Sania Mirza's fitness in the last year has affected her game, but now with a new trainer from South Africa - Heath Mathews - as part of her travelling team, the Indian icon can hopefully get on the court almost 100 per cent fit every time. Sania Mirza's immediate challenge will be at the
Asian Hopman Cup next week in Hyderabad, where she pairs up with Leander Paes.

Happy Birthday Sania Mirza
