Strengths: -

Sanath has been the main stay of SriLankan batting for the past 11 years now. It all started in WC 1996 when he blasted some top class bowling attacks when sent as an opener. That was an experiment. Now he is performing duties as a regular opener for quite a time. His main strength is flawless hitting. When he hits the ball it stayed hit. He might not be as technical as some of the other world class batsmen but is equally effective. He backs his natural instincts and more dependent on Hand-Eye coordination.

He can also bowl slow left arm. He has won many matches for SriLanka just coz of his bowling. Especially in final overs he is difficult to get away. He can be a very good asset for SriLanka in the World Cup.

Weaknesses: -

As most of the batsmen from the subcontinent have Sanath also has problems facing rising deliveries. Even his records in WCs suggest that he performed well only on the surfaces with lesser bounce and lesser lateral movement. But as the WC is in West Indies and the pitches are going to be tailor made for Sanath, this problem wont be that bigger.

Oppurtunities: -

SriLanka is in the Pool 2 along with India, Bangladesh and Bermuda. So it is definite that SriLanka would go to super 8's. And he is expected to play almost all the matches. So lots in store for Sanath.

Expectations: -

Jayasuriya is the main stay of SriLankan batting. He is known for his blazing starts. That spark at the top is being expected this time around also. But as he has matured enough as a batsman he is expected to convert these good starts in to match winning scores and he is quite capable of doing this. Captain Jayawardane would be expecting his bowling services also. SriLanka's success in the past is majorly based on Jayasuria's performance. So Jayasuria has to succeed if SriLanka want to reach anywhere near the World Cup.

Jayasuria is going to be one of the major stars in this WC. As this is his last WC he will give everything he has. Watch out for him!!!!
