Falling Leaves

Falling Leaves

I was thinking of old friends today

and how many of them have slipped away.

Moved, got married, or stopped calling so much,

Found new friends, got busy, and just lost touch.

It reminded me of falling leaves .

Every autumn the leaves fall from the trees.

Some stay longer than others, but eventually -

Each leaf must fall, I'm told,

leaving the tree alone to face the cold.

Why is it that in the time of utmost need

the leaves would seek to leave the tree?

And when we need our friends around

we look and they cannot be found?

Of course these friendships come and go

and in the spring new leaves will grow.

But I prefer autumn friends of old

with crackling laughter and colors bold.

And then I thought of you.

That one stubborn leaf that won't let go.

That clings despite the winds that blow.

Fighting ice, and snow, and winter's stings

Hanging on right through till spring.

So I guess that's what you are to me -

The very last leaf to leave the tree.

I know it seems silly, but it's true.

When I see that last leaf...I think of you.
....don't drift away.... will you???

Issued on public interest

ISSUED IN PUBLIC INTEREST PASS IT TO AS MANY AS YOU CAN.

BEWARE OF THESE BANKS

Looking at the rising complaints against ICICI Bank, Citibank, and Standard Chartered Bank , we request consumers to properly read their documents and keep a record when dealing with these banks, especially regarding credit card and housing loan. These three banks are biggest defaulters and do not resolve consumer problems easily. Be aware of their terms in writing. Keep a perfect record of all correspondence with them. If they do not agree to written communication, immediately stop their services.
If you ask some nationalised bank to take over the housing loan from ICICI Bank, even after paying full amount, you will not get back your original documents for months. You will be told that the documents are in Mumbai and they are trying to retrieve the same. This is the answer you get everyday.

BEWARE OF NOKIA

Nokia
assures that their handset is covered under insurance. They even provide a certificate of insurance. But the condition is that if the handset is lost/stolen, you have to lodge an FIR to seek claims. The catch here is that the police station does not lodge FIR for loss of handsets, they only register NC. So you will never get insurance claims on basis of NC.

Nokia
is selling some of its degraded products that have software problems. If you come across such problem in a new set, do not waste your time in running around service centres as it is not going to help much, ask for a replacement with a new set. All those who have purchased 3230 set, have experienced that there was software problem in every set. Nokia is simply dumping the sets, which can not be sold in other countries.

BEWARE OF AIR DECCAN

Their confirmed bookings are highly unreliable and of no guarantee that you will be allowed to fly
. The booked tickets get cancelled without intimation to consumer only to be known by him when he goes to the airport to catch his flight. You will not get refund immediately, if you have booked your ticket through credit card. If you call up their call centre, if you press numbers relating to refund, you will not be attended at all even if you try for hours together. If you talk to somebody regarding refund, you have to press options relating to ticket booking, so that someone will attend to you. Then you can ask for refund. They are following very good trick.

BEWARE OF COUNTRY CLUB, BANGALORE

They advertise that if you take their membership, a plot of land will be given free of cost near Golden Spa at Coconut Grove. Please note Golden Spa is 35 Kms from Bangalore and the said plot of land is over 100 Kms from Bangalore . Based on false promises and with arrangement with Citibank and ICICI Bank, this team cheats the consumers of his money by asking payments through credit card.

BEWARE OF PRIVATE BUS OPERATORS/TRAVEL AGENTS

If you book your ticket in a private bus operator, you will find that your seat is allotted to somebody else also. Many a times, though you have booked your ticket to some destination, you will dropped few kilometres away, if there are not enough passengers for your destination. Then you will have to depend on other services to reach your destination. Keep the records/proofs and give a complaint to the nearest police station, when you come back. If you find that the police is supporting the travel agent, immediately inform his higher ups or give a complaint to consumer forum. Always try to use government transportation services. They may be bad in service but will never cheat you.

BOOK TELESALES & RECOVERY AGENTS

If you receive unwanted advertisement / telemarketing call from any company or recovery agents. You will find it annoying especially when you are on roaming network. Ask their telephone number and report to the police. File a police complaint against the Chairman of the company.

BEWARE OF SOME HOSPITALS

If you happen to get admitted (or admit your family person/friend/ relative) for any operation in any hospital, keep all the records. Even if the doctor scribbles any information on a piece of paper and give it you, please keep it with you. In future, for your bad luck, if some adverse thing happens due to wrong dialysis or wrong operation, these things will come handy to fight it in a court. Please be clear that consumer forums are not of much help to you because they do not have good doctors in their panel. Many a times they do not have any doctors in their panel and even if they have, a doctor in the panel will try to help a doctor. In such a case you will have to fight tooth and nail. Hence keep all the records/proofs with you carefully.

BEWARE OF TATA INDICOM BROADBAND and WIRELESS FIXED TELEPHONE

Their promises to get you a broadband connection within a week is not to be relied upon. Once your money is stuck (about Rs. 2000), it takes lot of pains to recover it back. If you book Wireless fixed telephone, the Tata indicom sales person will tell you that you can send/receive fax, send/receive e-mails in other service providers' account also (for example vsnl, touchtel etc). Once you install the telephone, you will find that the instrument can not support fax machine even if connected through EPABX, you will find that you can receive e-mails in other accounts and can not send e-mails at all. You have to send e-mails only through Tataindicom e-mail service.

Bai Ling is almost too good at dancing

Bai Ling is almost too good at dancing

Bai Ling was spotted showing off her dance moves at Club Play for porn star Mary Carey's birthday party last Friday. And, really, all you other dancers should just give up. You can't compete with this. I imagine this is how God would dance. Assuming, of course, that God had no sense of rhythm and lost the use of his limbs in a horrible car accident.

World awaits Paris Hilton´s return

World awaits Paris Hilton's return

As Paris Hilton counted down her final hours in jail on Monday, her reality stint behind bars was about to be replaced by the bizarre, almost fictional qualities that make up her life on the outside. With Hilton due to be released sometime Tuesday, the Federal Aviation Administration promised to keep a close watch on the paparazzi helicopter pilots expected to track her every move.

"We will be sending inspectors to her neighborhood and to the jail to keep an eye on all the helicopter and perhaps even airplane traffic in the vicinity and make sure all the operations are conducted safely," said FAA spokesman Ian Gregor. He noted that copter pilots could be cited for such things as hovering dangerously low over people or hovering low enough to kick up debris that damages homes and vehicles.

Meanwhile, in the fashionable Hollywood Hills neighborhood that Hilton calls home when she's not in jail, city transportation officials put up temporary no-parking signs during the weekend to ensure that news vans and other vehicles didn't block access to the narrow, winding street. "It's done to enable the people who live in the community to have access to their homes," said Transportation Department spokesman Bruce Gillman. He didn't know how long the signs would remain

but said, "Hopefully, the media isn't there too long." At the Sheriff's Department, which administers the Los Angeles County jail system, officials were keeping quiet about how Hilton was spending her last hours in jail or what sort of paperwork process she must go through before being released.

"I'm not going to get into that. What I will say is to reiterate that the release date is tomorrow," sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said Monday. "We're not going to discuss anything other than that tomorrow is the day."

Hilton spokesman Elliot Mintz declined to comment on what the star of television's 'The Simple Life' planned to do after being sprung from the stir. That left Paris watchers everywhere to speculate about such things as: Where would the hotel heiress go first, her home, her folks' home or a hotel?

What would be the first meal for Hilton, who has roundly criticized the quality of jail food? Would it possibly be an In-N-Out burger, which Hilton has said she was on her way to pick up last September when she was stopped for reckless driving, the incident that eventually put her in jail.

"I will definitely get a good meal because the food in here is absolutely inedible and horrible," the 26-year-old celebutante told E! News' Ryan Seacrest by phone last week. Over the weekend, her mother, Kathy Hilton, paid a visit to the jail and told reporters afterward that her daughter was itching to trade in her orange jail jumpsuit for something a bit more stylish.

"She doesn't like orange anymore," Hilton's mother said. "She can't wait to get that orange suit off." The hotel heiress presumably will discuss more long-range plans on Wednesday when she appears on CNN's 'Larry King Live.' Hilton, who is arguably most famous for starring in a homemade sex video and being a permanent fixture on the Hollywood nightclub scene, has said she'd like to begin doing something more important with her life.

"I want to help build a transitional home so that when inmates leave here they don't have to go back to the street," she told Seacrest from jail. "These women just keep coming back because they have no place to go."

Hilton's path to jail began Sept. 7, when she failed a sobriety test after police saw her weaving down a street in her Mercedes-Benz. Hilton, who said she was hungry and on the way to get a hamburger, pleaded no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving and was sentenced to probation for three years.

In the months that followed she was stopped twice by officers who discovered her driving on a suspended license. The second stop landed her in court and then in jail.

Lindsay Lohan working hard in rehab

Lindsay Lohan working hard in rehab

Remember when I suggested the Promises rehab facility was like a circus? Turns out I wasn't too far off, as Lindsay Lohan was spotted at Venice Beach Wednesday bicycling and roller blading with some friends. And maybe I'm not the master of subtlety that she is, but if you're trying to be inconspicuous, maybe taking your shirt off and riding around in your bikini isn't the best idea. "They're taking my picture! I know how to stop them, I'll take my shirt off! Wait, they're not stopping. Noooooo!"

Britney Spears album pushed back

Britney Spears' album pushed back

Britney Spears was supposed to release her new album in November, but her publicist has confirmed that it's been postponed. Her rep, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, tells Life & Style, "I put her on hiatus. Brit's album is pushed until '08."

Another source close to Britney says executives at her record label, Jive, fear her career is over. The source says, "I'm surprised the album wasn't pushed back to 2009. Everything's up in the air with the album right now."

I'm a little surprised Jive is still moving forward with the album. It's pretty clear Britney's singing career is over. I've heard the first couple tracks off the new album and it's just her chewing on Cheetos and having difficulty breathing. Just kidding, that wasn't the album. It was her entire life.

An interesting read on leadership

An interesting read on leadership: 18 tactics - and case studies

There are few career moments as exciting -- and these days, as perilous -- as taking over the top job at a company, business unit, or department. But what exactly do you do once you're in charge? This online guide provides 18 tactics -- and case studies -- to help you take the reigns running.

1. Begin your transition before you start the job. Use the interview process to get an early jump on learning about the organization. Ask critical questions: How are decisions made? What are the key challenges? Which functions are strong, and which ones need to be overhauled? Use that information to build some initial hypotheses about how you would change things for the better.

Take your cue from Steve Bennett who took over the CEO spot at Intuit Corp. "The interview process is where you start," he says. "That's where you ask all of the questions about what it takes to be successful."

2. Travel widely within your organization, listen carefully, and look for patterns in everything you see and hear. Bruce Patton, co-author of Difficult Conversations: How to Discuss What Matters Most and a partner with Vantage Partners, a Boston-based relationship management consulting firm, advises new leaders to spend a lot of time listening and asking questions. Talk to employees up and down the hierarchy. "Soon you'll start to see a pattern about what's going on," he says.

Within his first month on the job, Steve Bennett hit the road and tested the hypotheses that he had formed during his interviews. In 30 days, he visited dozens of locations and talked to hundreds of people, gathering feedback and insight on what was right - and wrong - with the firm's operations.

3. As you ask questions, look for the rising stars whom you want as part of your team. Your listening tour may help you identify the key players whose skills you need as part of your management team. "If you're engaging in high quality inquiry, you'll want to keep people who had good answers," Patton says.

Asking tough questions is a critical skill, but not necessarily a pleasant experience.

4. Identify the kind of people who will flourish in the environment you want to establish. Even before interviewing people to assemble your team, take the time to identify the challenges ahead -- and the kind of people who are motivated by those situations.

When Scott Lutz was tapped to lead 8th Continent, a soy-milk company borne of a 50-50 joint venture between two corporate giants, DuPont and General Mills, he knew he needed to assemble a team of renegades - people with "the right mix of passion and courage," Lutz describes. "They had to be willing to do things that hadn't been done before."

5. After you've identified the ideal individual, identify the ideal group. Don't stop at finding the type of person you need. Envision how this person will interact with others to get the goals accomplished. Assemble the ideal team. In some cases, literally.

When Pat Gillick took over a mediocre Seattle Mariners club in 1999, he was keenly aware of the kind of group it would take to win a World Series. "Chemistry is unbelievably critical," Gillick says.

"If you come into a workplace, and there is inconsistency, there are disruptive employees, or you don't know what to expect, then you won't be a motivated employee." The Mariners' quest for a happy clubhouse includes paying close attention to the wives and kids of the players. Gillick meets with wives early in the season to work out everything from ticketing to security to the potentially inflammatory problem of who sits where.

6. Acknowledge what you don't know. Identify those around you are the experts and don't be afraid to lean on them. No one expects an incoming leader to know everything. And perhaps there is nothing more off-putting to a future team than someone who mistakenly thinks he or she does.

After 15 years as a manufacturing engineer at Boeing, Bruce Moravec had mastered his technical discipline. But when he was promoted to run the 757 Stretch Program, an ambitious mandate to stretch the plane by 24 feet, add functionality, and do it in less than two years, he understood he'd have to gain the confidence of people who worked in areas he knew little about.

"I had lots of credibility as a manufacturing engineer and second-level manager. But suddenly I was responsible for tool design, fuselage definition, all kinds of areas that weren't in my background."

7. Don't be afraid to listen to people who disagree. Listen, actively, to the people around you, especially those who challenge your assumptions.

Take it from Carlos Ghosn, Nissan's president and CEO and the engineer of the company's dramatic turnaround. "When I came to Nissan, I engaged in what I call 'active listening' with as many people as I could. I also got a lot of advice from outside the company, most of which was very conservative. People told me, 'You can't go fast in Japan. You can't close plants in Japan. You can't reduce head count.' I listened carefully, even to the opinions that totally contradicted my own beliefs, to make sure that when I made my decisions, I hadn't missed anything."

8. But clean house if you have to. Depending on the situation you step into, no matter how clear your vision is, and how evangelical you are, acknowledge that there may be people - some of whom may have already seen your predecessors come and go -- who are too jaded to follow.

Take Dale Fuller's experience. When he took over an ailing Borland Software, which at one time was a pioneer in developing developer tools, five different CEOs had already come and go in the preceding three years.

Skeptics assumed that Fuller was the latest in a series of short-term custodians. Rather than embrace the new direction, they figured that they'd just wait Fuller out. Fuller had other ideas. Within six months, he fired about 400 people, including 60 of his top managers.

9. Establish a way to communicate with -- and listen to -- your entire team. Your strategic course of action is only as effective as your ability to communicate it. Have the pipeline and protocol set up to get your message out there, and don't forget that communication goes both ways.

Dick Brown took over EDS in 1999 and moved swiftly to change old beliefs and behaviors, unleashing a set of practices -- dubbed "operating mechanisms" -- that were designed to create a company-wide culture based on instant feedback and direct, unfiltered communication. One of these practices is the "monthly performance call."

At the beginning of each month, 125 of the company's top worldwide executives punch into a conference call that begins promptly at 7 AM central daylight time. Participation is not optional.

10. Don't trash your predecessor, but don't be shy about promoting your own agenda. Do not assume that the prior administration screwed up or lost sight of the big picture. There's probably an element of truth in that.

But it's almost certainly true that they had a different disaster that they were working to avoid, Patton says. If you've got a clear vision of what needs to be fixed, by all means, implement it. Then ask yourself what led those really smart people to do what they did in such a way that it made sense to them?

Talk about a predecessor: when Melvin Wearing took over the role of chief of police for New Haven, Connecticut, he filled the controversial shoes of someone who resigned after fathering an illegitimate child with a convicted prostitute. On February 24, 1997, his first day on the job, Wearing moved quickly to telegraph the changing of the guard. First up: a visit to each of the day's four lineups (the roll call of officers that begins each shift) -- a practice that his predecessor had shunned.

11. Settle on a few major priorities. You can't fix everything at once. "Typically, you can't do everything you want to do, so you need to make some strategic choices," Patton says. "This is where you begin to align the organization around a common vision for the future."

Perhaps Wearing's most far-reaching legacy will be his focus on quality-of-life crimes -- the so-called broken-windows approach to policing. Just as Rudy Giuliani cracked down on New York's squeegee men, Wearing declared war on New Haven's vagrants and hookers, street-corner dealers, and boom-box blasters. By nipping misdemeanors in the bud, Wearing argues, police may deter more-serious crimes. His approach seems to be working. In 1997, New Haven logged 13,950 major crimes; in 2001, the city had a total of 9,322.

12. Meet the customers. Balance the big picture vision with-front line views. There is no reconnaissance more important than scouting out the territory where your products and services meet their customers. Seeing the customers actually interact provides some invaluable information.

When Gary Kusin took over as CEO of Kinko's Inc., he went into every single one of its 24 markets in the United States, visited more than 200 stores, and met with more than 2,500 team members.

13. Target a few early wins. Momentum counts, and nothing succeeds like success. It's critical for a new leader to create momentum during the transition, say Dan Ciampa and Michael Watkins in their book, "Right from the Start: Taking Charge in a New Leadership Role." Pick some problems the organization has not been able to address and figure out a way to fix them quickly to establish a new direction.

When Jim Berra was promoted to head the Starwood Hotels & Resorts Guest program in July 2001, and like any newcomer to a job, Berra was keen to have a few big wins to energize his new team. "I didn't want to solve world hunger in the first three months, but I was looking for a couple of things that would pay immediate dividends," he says.

So he focused on three priorities: First, he had to build better awareness of the company's Preferred Guest program, which lagged behind Hilton and Marriott in visibility despite its unprecedented policies of having no blackout dates and no limit on free rooms. Second, he had to find a way to measure the program's performance. And finally, he had to research customer segmentation for future promotions.

14. Keep an eye on the clock. Faster is almost always better. "Make sure your time is used to its best advantage," says Patton. "When you're new to an organization, many people will want your attention. While it's pleasant to swap stories about each other's golf game, you're better off saving them for the fairway, and using the time in the office to engage in a learning-oriented conversation."

Here's a tip: Create a "Stop Doing" List. Take a look at your desk. If you're like most hard-charging leaders, you've got a well-articulated to-do list. Now take another look: Where's your stop-doing list? We've all been told that leaders make things happen -- and that's true. But it's also true that great leaders distinguish themselves by their unyielding discipline to stop doing anything and everything that doesn't fit.

15. Don't be afraid to make mistakes but be sure to fix them faster than you make them. Any new situation is fraught with hazards, but taking over a top job exposes a new leader to pitfalls ranging from the personal to the organizational.

Accept that you can't know everything in your first six months, and even an extensive professional background can't insulate you from making mistakes in an unfamiliar company and culture. The key is to assess yourself and your progress as rigorously as you do your new colleagues and workplace, and to be prepared to make your own course corrections as you go along.

Last year, Lydia Shire and Paul Licari took over Locke-Ober, a Boston restaurant and Brahmin institution founded in 1875. The entire city was watching, and everybody had an opinion. And the first 10 days were a disaster. "You could have put me in front of a firing squad and it would have felt better," Licari shares.

16. Be wary of reckless re-engineering. If you're assuming leadership of a large organization or department, take the time to understand its current trajectory. Making too drastic and immediate a change can derail both confidence and long-term strategy. Stanford Business School Professor, Jim Collins, warns leaders to be cautious. "Why do overhyped change programs ultimately fail? Because they lack accountability, they fail to achieve credibility, and they have no authenticity."

Consider the Warner-Lambert Co. in the early 1980s. In 1979, Warner-Lambert told Business Week that it aimed to be a leading consumer-products company. One year later, it did an abrupt about-face and turned its sights on health care. In 1981, the company reversed course again and returned to diversification and consumer goods.

Then in 1987, Warner-Lambert made another U-turn, away from consumer goods, and announced that it wanted to compete with Merck. Then in the early 1990s, the company responded to government announcements of pending health-care reform and re-embraced diversification and consumer brands. Between 1979 and 1998, Warner-Lambert underwent three major restructurings -- one per CEO. Each new CEO arrived with his own program; each CEO halted the momentum of his predecessor.

17. Don't be afraid to look for ideas in unusual places. Don't just read your own industry's trade journals. Cast a wide net for insights -- sometimes the breakthrough idea lies in the triumphs of a completely different industry.

When Rob McEwen, took over an underperforming gold mine in northwestern Ontario, he assumed a tough situation: The gold market was depressed, the mine's operating costs were high, and miners were on strike. His breakthrough - an unprecedented move to make his company's proprietary information public and launching a contest to develop the mine over the Internet - came from learning about the Linux operating system and the open-source revolution.

18. Finally, ask yourself who do you really want to prevail, you or your organization? You'd be surprised by the difference.

Consider this: Jim Collins and his team at Stanford Graduate School of Business and asked, what makes a good company great? They started with 1,435 good companies, examined their performance over 40 years, and then identified 11 companies that became great.

Here's one thing they found: The CEOs who took their companies from good to great were largely anonymous -- a far cry from the celebrity CEOs we read about. Collins believes this is more a matter of cause and effect than an accident. There is something directly related between the absence of celebrity and the presence of good-to-great results.

Why? First, when you have a celebrity, the company turns into "the one genius with 1,000 helpers." It creates a sense that the whole thing is really about the CEO. And that leads to all sorts of problems - especially if the person goes away or if the person turns out not to be a genius after all.

The problems with GIRLS

The problems with GIRLS:

If u TREAT her nicely, she says u are IN LOVE with her;
If u Don't, she says u are PROUD.
If u DRESS Nicely, she says u are trying to LURE her;
If u Don't, she says u are from CHENNAI.
If u ARGUE with her, she says u are STUBBORN;
If u keep QUIET,! she says u have no BRAINS.
If u are SMARTER than her, she'll lose FACE;
If she's Smarter than u, she is GREAT.
If u don't Love her, she tries to POSSESS u;
If u Love her, she will try to LEAVE u.(very true huh?)
If u don't make love with her., she says! u don't Love her;
If u do!! she says u are CHEAP.
If u tell her your PROBLEM, she says u are TROUBLESOME;
If u don't, she says that u don't TRUST her.
If u SCOLD her, u are like a CHACHA to her;
If she SCOLDS u, it is because she CARES for u.
If u BREAK your PROMISE, u Cannot be TRUSTED;
If she BREAKS hers, she is FORCED to do so.
If u SMOKE, u are BAD BOY;
If she SMOKES, she is a GENTLELADY.
If u do WELL in your exams, she says it's LUCK;
If she does WELL, it's BRAINS.
If u HURT her, u are CRUEL;
If she HURTS u, u are too SENSITIVE!!
& sooo hard to please!!!!!

If u send this to girls, they will swear that it's not true.......
but if u don't, they say u are selfish.....

The moral of the story is.......SEND THIS TO GIRLS OUT THERE ANYWAY...
Send it to boys also, gives them some laughter ...

Words to remember for a while

Boys are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree.

The girls don't want to reach for the good ones because they're afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead they just get the rotten apples that are on the ground, that aren't as good, but easy.

So the apples at the top think that there is something wrong with them, when in reality, they are amazing.

That is why we just have to be a little patient and the right girl, the one who takes a chance to find the good, right apple, will come someday...

Wow what a dress! I never saw such a nice open dress anywhere. It was a lacy see through dress with a red bra and panties outfit. Everything in he is visible for public and as I called her in my earlier posts about Britney spears wardrobe malfunction as a mentally disordered person, Britney spears is proving my words. How the hell in this world a perfectly minded Mom comes in an outfit like that. People who do worst job has atleast some self respect. Britney spears gone mad.

Britney spears need publicity, for that Britney spears is ready to do anything she is willing to do. Poor Kids, Father went with another girl and Mom is Bad, where do they go?

Britney Spears wardrobe malfunction or mental disorder

Wardrobe malfunction is most common for hollywood actresses. Most of the hollywood celebrities got caught with the wardrobe malfunction. Britney was not caught for wardrobe malfunction (hmm does she need to have a wardrobe malfunction when she willingly shoing her body for us) for quite sometime.

Last Friday the ghost of wardrobe malfunction caught britney spears also who had awardrobe malfunction in Beverly Hills. Is it really a wardrobe malfunction, hmm i doubt that, Because as per the pictures i saw it was looking like Britney spears strips herself. she could have avoided this wardrobe malfunction if she haven't takken her cloths off. Well what u do when u take of your cloths? you will be careful rite. But Britney spears drove her car with her red Bra on. Hey Brit, why are you having only Bra dear, just take that off too and drive. I think she need to go to rehab again, This time for mental disorder. I believe it is a hight of all stupidity but Britney spears looks like she was having some mental disorder.

Kristy Swanson arrested

Kristy Swanson arrested

Kristy Swanson, who appeared on Skating with Celebrities and caused a scandal when her skating partner left his pregnant wife for her, was arrested Saturday night for allegedly assaulting the ex-wife. People reports:

"I had to go the police station where I had an appointment at 9 p.m. to begin the process of being arrested," she confirms. Swanson was released on $500 (Canadian) bail. Officers escorted her into the police station in Kingston, Ontario, after Eisler's ex, Marcia O'Brien, filed a complaint against Swanson. Swanson, 37, claims she was attacked by O'Brien in front of Eisler and O'Brien's children. The actress's rep, Michael Sands, says Swanson plans to press charges against O'Brien, saying that police took photographs of her back and other parts of her upper extremities to document the injuries.

There's nothing quite like stealing a pregnant woman's husband and then beating her up. I believe it was Mother Teresa who once said it was the greatest gift you could give a person.

Rumours don´t upset me: Bipasha

Rumours don't upset me: Bipasha

I knew tongues would wag. Let them. I've bigger worries than wagging tongues, says hot star Bipasha.

John is holed up in the South, shooting for Nagesh Kukunoor's Aashayen . In the meantime, his girlfriend Bipasha Basu been generously linked with Saif Ali Khan. Bipasha is amused by rumours linking her with Saif Ali Khan. '' It's crazy. We're colleagues in Abbas-Mustan's Race . And we get along very well. I've been out with him just once for dinner and that too for half an hour. If that's a reason for rumours to start, then so be it!" she says.

What Bipasha hates is the constant speculation in her boyfriend's absence. "Just because John is so much out of town, people think they're free to jump to conclusions about the status of our relationship." She's missing John more than ever. "I did say recently that we get as much time together as we need. But I'd spoken too soon. He's gone for Nagesh's film for two months. And I intend to join him in Pondicherry soon. Space is okay. But too much of it is not required."

She was seen with former boyfriend, Dino Morea earlier this week. "That was an event organised by my dear friend Rocky S. Again, it was only because John is out of town. And why do people forget my best friend Susan was also with me? The minute I drove in with Dino without my car following us, I knew tongues would wag. Let them. I've bigger worries than wagging tongues."

Linday Lohan leaving rehab

Linday Lohan leaving rehab

Lindsay Lohan might be leaving the Promises rehab facility soon. A source tells Gatecrasher:

"She's scheduled to be out of rehab by next week. She's taken rehab very seriously. She has cut a lot of negative influences in her life. She and [mom] Dina speak every day."

She checked in May 28th and was supposed to do a 30 day program, so if she gets out by next week it means she'll have left the program early. And if there's one thing Lindsay doesn't need, it's to get out of rehab early. You wouldn't set Hannibal Lecter free just because "he hasn't eaten anybody in over a week." I know it's not like prison and she can leave whenever she wants, but if she's really taking this seriously she should complete the program. Otherwise I'll save myself some time and start writing future headlines now: "Lindsay Lohan arrested after driving her car through an office building."

And here's Lindsay taking a break from rehab to go workout at a Malibu gym.

SACHIN, we miss you.

SACHIN, we miss you.

We miss Sachin. We miss him more in 'Tests' than in ODI. One great performance with the bat or ball by a player can invariably take a team to victory in ODIs. But in test matches, most of the time, it is the 'Sustained Brilliance' of the stars that can take you home. Ebbs and tides can be experienced in the longer version where a genius with experience can help 'in resisting the ebb' and 'riding over the tide' to take his team towards safety. Here Greats like Sachin count. Let us see how Team India has performed in the two versions when it missed him (Of course stats alone do not tell you everything, but it helps).
India without Tendulkar

In all, injury has kept Tendulkar out of seven Tests and 69 ODIs.

Sivaji The Boss - Review

Sivaji The Boss - Review

It can't get bigger than this – Rajnikanth, the real superstar and style king, and Shankar the showman of Tamil cinema, coming together for the first time in Sivaji. The good news is that this awesome combo is able to whip up an entertainment extravaganza that is delicious and good to savour.

The moot question is: does the Rajnikanth-Shankar combination measure up to the stratospheric expectation of their fans? The answer is that it does - to a very large extent, as it has the freshness and novelty in the coming together of two giants of the industry. As a film, it acts as the vital bridge between the old Rajni films and new commercial packaging that makes Shankar tick with the generation next audience.

Rajnikanth has never looked so good on screen with his stylised look and presentation, body language, mannerisms and dialogue delivery. Shankar has been able to get the right balance in a tightrope walk between Rajni's larger-than-life image and the changing taste of today's mass multiplex audience without losing his famous touch. In short, Shankar has given us a more peppy and upmarket Rajni that is sure to work with today's youth audience.

There is only one hero here, as in all Rajnikanth films- Rajni himself. Such is the overpowering screen presence of his cinematic charisma in every frame of the film. The film works big time as Shankar has made the film on a grand scale, in a riot of colours, lavish song picturisation, which is a visual treat with superbly choreographed action scenes. All this comes with top-of-the line techno-finesse, perhaps the best ever in Tamil cinema.

Sivaji (Rajnikanth) comes back from US with big dreams of doing something good for his fellowmen, mainly free education and medical care. He wants to set up `Sivaji University` but our corrupt system, greedy politicians and red tapism stand in his way. Sivaji's right-hand man is his Mama (Vivek) who not only helps him with his dream project but also finds him a perfect match in Tamilselvi (Shriya).

Sivaji faces opposition from Adhiseshan (Suman), a kingmaker, businessman and educationist who runs a successful medical college and hospital. After realising that nothing works in our corrupt system, Sivaji succumbs to pressure and bribes the entire bureaucracy to start his pet project. Adhi crosses swords with Sivaji and is determined to sabotage the project and he succeeds in bringing our hero to the street. Now it is the turn of our superman hero to strike back. How he does it with just one rupee forms the rest of the story.

Technically, 'Sivaji' is a revelation. In case you feel that it has a predictable story, then there are stunning visuals, which is paisa vasool. K.V.Anand's cinematography is top class. Art director Thotta Tharani work is enticing, especially the sets in songs. Musically the film is a treat, as Rahman has given his best in recent times. Song picturisation, like in all Shankar films, is out-of-the world and what really keeps the viewer hooked, is the packaging and the way it is picturised.

Every song is a visual treat, with Vaaji … and Sahaana… adding glitz to the proceedings. The Style song shot in Spain with where Rajni is shown as a white man is mesmerising, though the much hyped Ballelakka.. number reminds you of the manner in which Andankakka in Anniyan was shot. Thotta Tharani's sets enrich the proceedings. Manish Malhotra's costumes, especially the suits and denims suit Rajni to the T.

On the downside, there is nothing new story-wise. Shankar has rehashed his pet theme of a one-man crusader who cleans the society of the scum of the earth, which was seen in his earlier socio-commercial fantasies like Gentleman and Muthalvan. There is a sense of déjà vu- as you have seen similar plots too often from his stable. The script is too thin on logic. There are far too many banal dialogues and familiar homilies and messages, associated with a Shankar film, are thrust in and at times the pace is too sluggish, especially in the first half.

The action scenes are well choreographed by Peter Hayne. The two fights in the first half are done in typical Jackie Chan style with the emphasis being to provide light hearted comedy. The climax fight between 'Motta' Sivaji and Adhi is adrenaline pumping with gravity defying 'Matrix' style visual effects. The graphic work in Style and Athiradi songs is mind-boggling.

Shriya has given an outstanding performance. Body language, glances, expression.... you name it and she has it all. She looks bewitching and has enough scope to perform. Suman's new look as the suave, polished Adhi is perfect foil for Rajni as he does not go overboard and utters only a few words. Vivek has equal footage with Rajni and some of his one-liners are really whacky and hilarious, especially when he takes a dig at young heroes who have taken a leaf out of the superstar by mouthing punch lines and aping his mannerisms.

Though this is a film without any punch lines associated with Rajni films, a “Pera ketta chumma Adhirudhilla.. or “Cool” could drive his fans into a frenzy. Please note that for the first time, there are a lot of English dialogues for Rajni, keeping the global audiences in mind. The comedy in the first half is rollicking and the surprise packet is the 'Motta' Rajni who comes in the climax.

Go for it… It is entertainment guaranteed.

Sivaji audio review...

Sivaji audio review... Don't search for the author to blast... Its me!!! :D

Nothing could be bigger than this in Tamil Cinema. AVM's Production, Super Star Rajinikanth, director Shankar and A.R.Rahman's music. Sivaji is definitely the biggest film in Tamil Cinema. The audio of such a huge film has been released on April 2nd. I expected a lot from this audio, feeling this should be the best, but it sounds just good to me and nothing more.

I rate the songs normally based on how good they sound in FM radio played in my bus. Trust me, many songs I hated have become my favorites after I listened to them in my bus, so that's my benchmark. :-P

I am writing about the songs in the order of my favorites. And for the claim that Rahman's music is slow poison and all that, I am writing this review after listening to the songs lots of times in past 3 days.

Vaaji Vaaji - Hariharan, Madhushree

This I would say is the best song of the album and clearly shows Rahman is still around and is not gone as some critics claim. The music, lyrics, chorus and lead vocals are simply excellent. Hariharan is awesome with his energy of rendition while Madhushree is just okay. Though this is much better than dozens of songs where she had muttered and whined in a horrible voice doing a massacre of Tamil, I still feel Sujatha or Sadhana Sargam would have done more justice to this song. Nevertheless, a great song. Poombaavaai Aambal Aambal; Punnagayo Mowval Mowval piece is superb.

Sahana Saaral - Udit Narayan, Chinmayi

My next favourite, a brilliant song with its own share of negatives. There is a saying in Tamil Korangu kaila poomalai. That is what Rahman has done by making Udit Narayan sing this song. But for Udit Narayan's voice this would have been a fantastic song. One cannot blame Udit Narayan, only Rahman is responsible for this. Is there lack of good singers in Tamil? Why give such a wonderful song to Udit, who in an attempt to get Tamil pronunciation right and sing in a high scale messes up with both. It looks like he is moaning with pain. Chinmayi on the other hand is awesome and saves the song entirely. Nothing so great about the lyrics. part of the prelude music is exactly the same as the one in Kalyaana Then Nila from Mounam Sammadham.

Sahara Pookal - Vijay Yesudas, Gomathi Sri

This is a pathos version of the above song. Superb again. Vijay Yesudas is undeniably the singer of the year with a lot of hits to his credit and he showcases his brilliance in this song too. It makes me wonder even after hearing this voice, what made Rahman credit the other version of this song to Udit Narayan. Vijay Yesudas would have been really the best choice for the other version too. The song has just a pallavi followed by Maale Manivanna Thiruppavai verse rendered by Gomathi Sri. Her voice is not childish as mentioned in the Rediff review. On the contrary, it sounds too matured, that I wonder if it will be filmed on a middle aged Iyengar maami in the film :-P

Balleilakka - SPB, Raihanah

The typical Rajinikanth intro song, this time the super star will mouth great lines about Traditional Tamil culture rather than lines of inspiration. Nicely written song and executed with great music, who else can complete the loop other than SPB? Proving yet again he is the best to render intro songs for the superstar, he sings with such an energy that would put even the youngest singers to shame. Rahana provides the required vocal support. I cannot help myself from getting reminded of Devuda Devuda from Chandramukhi every time I listen to this song. If picturised well, this would be the song of this year.

If all songs are good, then why did I say the album is just good? Here comes the list of disappointments.

Athiradee - A.R. Rahman, Sayanora

This is a peppy dance number. It stars off well, just starts off, after that its total disaster with respect to lyrics and Rahman's unnecessary heavy throated rendition. I feel any other singer like Ranjith would have done a better job. It has reference to many of Rajini's previous movie titles. The retro style Guitar strains in the interludes are nice and the female lead Sayanora(Philips) has done a great job. There are no lyrics in the song infact, it is just a string of lots of words put together. Wishing the song should be visual delight atleast.

The Boss - Blaaze, Naresh Iyer & Raqueeb Alam

The theme song that sounds like Paatshaala from Rang De Basanti. The lyrics are nothing but the punch dialogues of Rajini, which might appear in the film too. But they does not sound like Rajini's punches, but more like those of T.Rajendar. There is nothing wrong with the vocals or music in this song. Its all great. But the lyrics which are supposed to be soul of this theme song are so stupid and awkward.

Oru Koodai Sunlight - Rags, Blaaze, Tanvi & Suresh Peters

The famous song that did rounds as promos with the lead pair sporting all awkward makeup and hairstyles. It carries the great message on Karuupu and Sevappu that is a part of all recent Rajini film songs. Other than the Spanish lines, techno beats, Style chorus and the singing by Tanvi, there is nothing much to write about this song. Why the hell is the song written in horrible Tamil if it has to sound so westernized? And even then, why such horrible male voices are chosen to sing the song?? Only Shankar and Rahman can answer. Its not singing, to be harsh, it sounds like shouting from a constipated person.

Overall, this is a good album, but I would rate it as the last among Shankar's music albums till date. My rating would be 7.5/10.

P.S: For anti-piracy activists, I am yet to grab an audio CD of my own. Will get it this weekend, the review is based on numerous hearings of the songs from various FM stations of Chennai. I don't have a pirated copy of the songs in my PC.

Shivaji the BOSS had just landed in the theaters all over the world. Shivaji, starrer Rajnikanth, the magical wand of Tamil film industry comes with this mega project with the help of producers AVM. The entire cabin crew of Shivaji comprised of Best of the Best in Tamil film industry.

With a sheer budget of 95 crores, Shivaji had created a record in the history of Indian film industry. The highest budget for a movie in India is Shivaji the BOSS. The producers are very optimistic, because any movie of Rajnikanth will produce huge returns. His previous movie Chandramuki, which came before two years is now on 800th day. It crossed around 300 crore in return.

Because of the returns on Investment, Rajnikanth is the hot horse to bet. The horse never fails. Even if it fails it never hurts the producers.
Rajnikanth is the highest paid actor in India and second highest paid actor in Asia next to Jackie Chan. Shivaji had created a Guinness record. It will beat Casino Royale in Guinness for the maximum number of theaters released. Casino Royale, released in 4150 theaters all over the world. Shivaji beats Casino Royale just by 350 theaters which is getting released in 4500 theaters all over world

Shivaji The BOSS is the first Indian movie which is released in such a magnificent number of theaters. A Japanese magazine estimated a return of investment of about 450 crores if the movie runs just for 50 days. None of the Rajnikanth movies will run just 50 days, with the backing of huge budget, movie will cross 150 days which means around 1000 crore rupees as returns.

Shivaji the BOSS had just released in theaters (+5.5 hrs from GMT) and on second show in all theaters of Tamil nadu. The review of Shivaji is yet to come, but with the best of best this movie will be a huge hit. Bollywood was projected as the film industry of India. None of their movies crossed such a huge mark.

Lindsay Lohan makes Pete Doherty look like Jesus

Lindsay Lohan makes Pete Doherty look like Jesus

In one of the most ridiculous accounts I've ever read, Lindsay Lohan's ex-bodyguard, Lee Weaver, reveals he quit being Lohan's bodyguard because she was too out of control. He tells the News of the World that Lohan:

ATTACKED a gun-wielding cocaine dealer for ripping her off. SNORTED line after line with Simple Life star Nicole Richie in a TEN-HOUR binge. SLASHED her wrists with knives, sobbing that she "didn't belong on this planet". ENJOYED frenzied lesbian romps with scores of girls she picked up at parties — and even made a play for chart star Mariah Carey.

I don't doubt that Lindsay Lohan is out of control, but this is insane. And by insane I mean 100% totally true. Although he left out the time she got into a fist fight with a homeless person and then ate his brains raw.
