Truth Behind Abishek and Jhanvi love affair

Early this morning, model Jhanvi Kapoor attempted suicide by slitting her wrists outside Amitabh Bachchan's home, Prateeksha, and was duely arrested. But even as she claims that Abhishek had married her last year, some residents of Lucknow contend that the girl's name is actually Naina Razvi.

Jhanvi Kapoor alias Naina Rizvi

"She is my former daughter-in-law," says Kalbe Sadiq, senior vice president, All India Muslim Personal Law Board, and a top Shia cleric and maulana. "I saw her picture and immediately recalled Naina. She was married to my son, Momin Rizvi, in 1997." Maulana Sadiq added that initially, his family was opposed to his son's marriage but they relunctantly accepted it later. The marriage did not last beyond 2001.

"I am sure she is Naina," says an aunt. "The moment I saw her on television I could not believe that she tried to commit suicide outside Bachchan's bungalow." What surprised Sadiq the most was her name. "I don't know when she became a Hindu and acquired this new name Jhanvi Kapoor. Our family lost touch with her four years ago after the divorce," he says.

Meanwhile, Jhanvi has denied that she was married to Momin Rizvi, as well as the claim that she is Muslim. 'My father was a Kapoor, and my mother remarried a Muslim. That is why her name is Shahina,' she told reporters in Mumbai this morning.

Mother of Jhanvi Kapoor alias Naina Rizvi, Shaheena Nasir, claimed that she knew of her daughter's relationship with Abhishek Bachhan. "Yes, I knew of Naina's affair with Abhishek. But I always told her to bury it since she was a Muslim and her marriage with a Hindu could result in social embarrassment for us," Shaheena said from her uptown residence in Srinagar.

Naina's mother and son live in Srinagar's posh Raj Bagh locality. Shaheena is married to a retired local bureaucrat, Agha Nasir, a former Union labour secretary. She married Nasir after a divorce from her first husband Mohsin Rizvi. She had four daughters from Mohsin, one of them being Naina. The two elder daughters stayed with their father, while the younger ones came to Kashmir along with their mother in 1982.

Agha Nasir avoided comments about his step-daughter, but said she had been married to Shia cleric Kalbe Sadiq's son from Lucknow and they had a ten-year-old son, who goes to school in Srinagar.

The building society in Lokhandwala where she stayed threw out her belongings on Friday night. Jhanvi, whose claim to fame is that she appeared as an extra in the title song of 'Dus', had returned home after the 'Prateeksha' drama to be confronted by the residents of Oscar building, where she stayed in a rented flat.

They made it clear that she was not welcome, and after an altercation threw out her stuff. Her deposit was also returned. Her clothes, luggage and other possessions were strewn outside the building, according to eyewitnesses present at the spot.Jhanvi was again detained by the Juhu police late on Friday night for trying to approach the Bachchan bungalow. After almost the entire Saturday in police detention, Jhanvi was released around 11:30 pm. It is not known where she would spend the night.
