Imtiaz caught cheating

It`s not new for filmmakers to cheat on locations when it comes to adding a couple of in-between shots for the sake of continuity and smoother narration. Director Imtiaz Ali faced a similar predicament when he needed to film a few shots at a dhaba for Love Aaj Kal, Saif Ali Khan`s maiden production, also featuring Deepika Padukone. Said to be a love story on the move, one song featuring Khan and Padukone in a taxi was shot in the Capital. "But it was only later, long after the team had returned to Mumbai, that Ali felt a shot of his two main stars driving into a dhaba would add to the entire sequence," informs a source from the unit. Unfortunately, flying the unit back to Delhi would add too much to the production costs. "So Ali opted to shoot it at a real dhaba along Mumbai-Pune highway... as that would add to the authenticity in the scene," our source says.
